Most of us quilt purely for the love of the craft and the sense of personal satisfaction that it brings. We occasionally take stock of our stash of fabrics, patterns, notions , books, etc. It is typically a sizeable investment in a craft we love so dearly . Wouldn’t it be a bonus to achieve a financial return in a industry we helped to create? Unfortunately, many (not all) of the companies that we patronize are private and/or family owned businesses. As a result, our ability to invest in these companies using traditional avenues such as the stock market; are not available. Therefore, we have to persuade the businesses we patronize to instead, invest in us. There are simple, creative ways in which we can (1) create a demand for our work through public exposure and (2) make our creative talents work for us. Next time we will begin by taking a brief look at how to submit an original creation to your favorite quilt magazine. In addition, we discuss non-traditional places in your community to display your work. Until then, keep piecing!
